Dipl. Eng. Bogoljub Ilievski, Macedonian and European patent attorney (MZIS & EPA), Head of Department for Patent at the Agency for Intellectual Property BERIN, on behalf of the European Patent Institute (EPI), at the meeting in Munich on 25th January, was elected as e chair of quality subcommittee and consequently will act as a one of the four vice chairs of European Patent Practice Committee within European Patent Institute (EPI) for the period between 2018 – 2021.
This subcommittee is directly responsible fоr communication and sharing experience between EPI and European patent Office about the quality of their products and services as well to provide feedback of EPO’s quality management system that is certified under ISO 9011:2015. Awarding as a chair of subcommittee is a great personal achievement as well recognition for the quality of services provided by the Agency Berin on European and world level that was possible because of its long experience with introduced ISO 9001 in its operations.

Bogoljub Ilievski is Prsident of the Quality Committee of the European Patent Institute and its representative in the Higher quality advisory body of the EPO.
On June 11, 2018 in Vienna, the President of the Republic of Austria, Dr. Alexander Van der Bellen received a delegation of the "European Academy of Sciences and Arts", led by the President of the Academy, prof. Dr. Felix Unger. The ambassador, prof. Dr. Gjorgji Filipov, Chairman of the Board of the Agency for Intellectual Property "Berin" - Skopje and Director of "Berin International" - Vienna was one of the members of the delegation.
During the meeting, President Bellen held a speech addressing the situation in Austria and the European Union and the current issues it deals with, such as: aligning customs attitudes with the United States, the need for EU enlargement, building a common view on the topic of refugees and asylum seekers, education and science in the EU and the development of democracy and the further unification of Europe. In that sense, Belen said "Europe has many democrats, it's a question, how many of them are real Europeans", (oriented towards Europeanization of the EU, annexed by G.F.). He characterized the Salzburg-based “European Academy of Sciences and Arts” as a true forum that tirelessly spread the idea of a European Union on a scientific and educational plan.
During the meeting, the President of the European Academy Dr. Unger handed over Bellen's invitation to be the patron of the Academy at the next General Assembly in March 2019 which was pleasently accepted. After the official ceremony, a cocktail was organized, and President Bellen talked to the members of the Academy including Dr. Gjorgji Filipov.
The International Trademark Association (INTA) Annual Meeting2018 was held for the 140th time from May 18-25 in Seattle (USA), the city of Microsoft, Boeing, Starbucks, Amazon, Jimi Hendriks, Nirvana and many other glorious companies and individuals who have contributed or marked the development of world industry and culture.
This Assembly was attended by 11000 patent and trademark attorneys from all around the world. The Agency for Intellectual Property BERIN was represented by Vancho Damjanski (Executive Menager) and prof. Dr. Gjorgji Filipov (Founder and Menager of Berin International from Vienna). Prof. Dr. Filipov was also representer of the Faculty of Information Science and Computer Engineering (FINKI) through the work of the committees for professors, academics and workers in the field of intellectual property.
During the INT 2018 the BERIN's representatives attended sixty meetings and took part in the opening of more events as well as the Grand Finale. They also visited the head offices of Boeing, Microsoft, Starbucks, as well as the first and so far the only Amazon Go shop in America, which operates without vendors and cashiers (Amazon Go). They also did not miss to visit the sightings of other landmarks of Seattle and talk to Ms .Tish Berard (the INTTA President) and Axel Nooderman (the Co-President). The crown of these evenets and meeting was the meeting of Vancho Damjanski with the Starbucks executive chairman, Mr. Huard Schulz.
Bogoljub Ilievski, MRIP and EPA, Head of Patent Department at BERIN IP Agency, participated in the Annual Meeting called “Partnership for Quality” at the European Patent Office in Munich, as a member of the European Patent Institute (epi) . He is also responsible person for enforcing the Quality Management System of ISO standard 9001:2008 implemented at the BERIN LTD nine years ago . His experience helped to EPI side, to fruitful exchange of experiences between the responsible directors from the European Patent Organization concerning the implementation of ISO 9001:2008.
He also attended the 85th meeting of the Standing Committee for technical and operational activities in the European Patent Organization (EPO) that was held next day, in Munich (Germany). This Committee has over 100 members (two members from each member states of the EPO as well as associate members countries of this organisation). The European Patent Office was represented by two vice-presidents: Dr. Raimund Lutz, and Mr. Alberto Casado. The composition of this committee is complemented by a representative of EUIPO (Intellectual Property Office of the EU), WIPO (World Intellectual Property Organization) and EPI (European Patent Institute).
The Committee adopted the reports of the groups for cooperation between the Member States in the field of electronic submission of applications, patent classification, quality and information technology.
On the occasion of the International Intellectual Property Day - April 26, the State Office of the Republic of Macedonia, orginized an event and hosted the traditional award of the PATENT OF YEAR in the Thessaloniki Hotel in Skopje.
This year the PATENT OF YEAR award was awarded to the author Victor Nastev for the invention "Device with electric or pneumatic movement of a folding mechanism for initiating speed reduction of vehicles", whose application was filed in July 2017 by the representative BERIN.
This year’s World Intellectual Property Day campaign celebrates the brilliance, ingenuity, curiosity and courage of the women who are driving change in our world and shaping our common future. In this regard, Mr. Goran Gerasimovski, Deputy Director of the State Office for Industrial Property, pointed out that, according to the current statistics, about 10% of the total patent applications submitted to the Macedonian IP Office were submitted by women with a hope that this percentage will increase in the future.
The Delegation of the Intellectual Property Agency "BERIN in the composition of MA Mariјa Koseska and B.Sc. Eng. Bogoljub Ilievski participated in the work of the 84th Council of the European Patent Institute (epi) that took place in Valeta (MALTA) from 13-14 April 2018. The IP Agency BERIN has its representatives in four epi Committees: Committee for Professional Enforcement (MA Maria Kjoseska), Committee for European Patent Practice (Bogoljub Ilievski), Committee for Disciplinary Procedure (Vanco Damjanski) and EPO finances committee (prof. d-r Gjorgji Filipov).
In addition to the Council, a celebration of 40th anniversary of the creation of the institute was held. The president of the European Patent Organization (EPO) Mr. Benoit Batistelli along with the three vice presidents of the EPO participated in as guests. In his speech he emphasized the role of epi as an external user of EPO’s products and services. The epi president, Mr. Francis Leyder, talked about the importance of the epi as corrective body of the EPO work as well in the development in the European patent system.
During the meeting of the Council, the chairs of all committees reported about the work of the committees for the period November 2017 – April 2018. Another interestig topic was the proposal for creation of the internet platform on the epi website in which the most experienced epi members will provide free of charge technical and legal advices to other epi members concerning the representation in the procedure of granting European patents.
The two-day event of work and meeting with the other 150 colleagues who represents 12 500 of patent attorneys from all the countries that had ratified the European Patent Convention was a great opportunity for exchange of experiences and ideas for the further development of the European Patent Institute and the cooperation of the attorneys within their competencies, both with colleagues, and with their business partners.
